Cry Freedom! was a great theme for us, and was carried throughout all the venues. Ken Blue led the talks at the main venue. The youth all came away with the phrase ‘Fed Up, Freed Up, Fired Up’. We could often find the children roaming the camp, looking for people to share the gospel with as they went out on their own missionary journeys.
Vicky Beeching was with us for worship on Friday night, followed with an excellent concert. Dwight Huthwaite led the worship for the other sessions and the worship and ministry times were powerful.
New Wine USA seems to be growing linearly. We started in 2005 with about 450 people, almost all from one church, whereas this year we had 670, representing 27 churches.
Here are few examples of the enthusiasm I was blessed to hear:
One woman signed up at the last minute, and only came because her teenage daughter was on the worship team for the children. It was her first ever camping experience and she shared that she cannot wait for next year, and that she plans on closing down the family business for the weekend so that not only her family, but everyone in their business and their families will be able to attend.
One couple (new to New Wine) were delighted to see their shy nine-year-old daughter respond with great enthusiasm to the kids programme, and then stand up in front of everyone at the main venue and give a mini-testimony. They have felt the Lord’s calling on her, and were blessed to witness her boldness and excitement for him.
