1 - What about my family?

Parental responsibilities

If you have parental responsibilities on site for, or are in loco parentis of, children under 17 years, you will need to arrange for child-care cover if you are to serve on team. You will be unable to collect your children from their groups and supervise them whilst serving on a team. If this applies to you, please ensure you complete the relevant section on the application form.

Food

Children of those serving on team can be catered for (at a small cost) if both parents are on a team, or one parent if no other adult family member is attending the conference. More information will be posted here nearer the time and food tickets can be bought on-site. On the half day breakfast only is provided for all team members

2 - What are the benefits?

Food

Three meals a day are provided free of charge for all those working on team (except prayer ministry or village hosts). Breakfast, lunch and tea are provided every day except the team arrival day (evening meal only) and the day off (breakfast only).

Free Place

Most teams get a free place at New Wine. While serving on team takes a lot of time, when you are free you can attend any of the seminars, celebrations and evening entertainment on offer.

Clothing

Most teams supply members with two free T-shirts to wear for the week you are serving. Please indicate your required size on the application form. Please make sure your clothing is appropriate and you wear comfortable footwear.

Celebration

Everyone serving on team gets the opportunity to receive spiritual refreshment, worship together and pray. It's a fantastic event to hear how God is moving across the site. Team celebrations are held on the fourth afternoon of each week.

3 - When am I needed?

Conference Dates

Team members can arrive from 12pm the day before the conference begins. Dates for 2012 are as follows:

Anyone wishing to assist with clear-up on Saturday 4 August (N&E) or Sunday 5 August (CSW) would be greatly appreciated.

Training Days

Most teams offer a training day in June or July. Details will be available online as soon as they are confirmed.

Team Meetings

Most teams have initial meetings either on the arrival day or the morning of the conference start date. There are daily team meetings throughout the week and occasional extra meetings organised by the team leader.

Hours

Each team varies on the hours required and some teams offer shift rotas. Have a look at the information about specific teams provided on this website for more information. You should always be free to have a meal, have some time off and attend a team celebration.

Day Off

One day of each week is a day off where there are no seminars or children's groups until the evenings. The hours worked on this day do vary from team to team so check the specific information on each team. Day 4 is the day off for each week.

4 - How can I apply?

Bookings are due to open in mid-September 2011.

To apply for a team place, you need to first book in as a delegate, selecting the 'applying for team' option. You will not be charged for your place and will be given the option of completing the team application. Alternatively, you can return to complete this at a later date. If someone else books you on to the conference, they will need to select the 'applying for team' option for you. We must receive your team application within 28 days of the initial booking, otherwise you will be charged the current fee rate for your booking.

Applying as soon possible helps the team leaders plan their schedules and programmes and also allows time to process a CRB disclosure. As soon as you decide you'd like to serve on team, please apply.

Child Protection

Make sure you've read our child protection policy, which is about safeguarding the welfare of children and young people at New Wine events and for your own protection. You'll need to sign to say you've read and will adhere to the terms on the Team Application Form.

References

In the references section of the application form, you'll need to supply the names of referees who New Wine can approach for written or verbal references or for feedback. One of these should be a church leader (preferably one who oversees your involvement in a ministry).

Please note: The team leader, team administrator and/or a parent or relative cannot act as a referee.

CRB Checks

Some teams require a criminal records bureau (CRB) check. A CRB from New Wine lasts three years. We will send you full details and a CRB application form once you've applied. You will also need to complete an online Veri-fy® form available here. Once complete, you will need to take both forms to the Post Office for checking. There is a £5.11 Post Office fee for this service.

Further information about the CRB system and guidlines on how to apply are available here.

Please note: A criminal record does not necessarily bar you from serving at New Wine. Each case will be assessed on an individual basis.

Photos

Each application needs to have an up-to-date photo attached, even if you've sent one to us in the past. Please put your name and postcode on the back. An application form without a photo attached will be delayed.

5 - Who can apply?

Pretty much anyone! You don't need to have qualifications (apart from the Medical team) or a huge amount of experience. A heart to serve, bless others and have fun is qualification enough. Applicants do need to be 13 years or over (older for certain teams). Young team are aged from 13 to 16 years and adult team are aged 17 years and over. Please check the availability on the team page before applying (i.e., check children's team availabilty here).

Young Team

All under 18s must have a parent or guardian staying on site who will be responsible for them. Guardians must be 21 years of age or older and not serving on Team. Please ensure that the parent or guardian of any young team member completes the 'young team' section of the application form before it is returned to us. New Wine cannot process applications from young people without parental consent. Please ensure that your parent/guardian reads the responsibilities fully and knows and accepts what they are signing up to. Churches or groups must not ‘allocate’ a responsible adult to a young team member.

Please note, anyone wishing to apply for a team will need to have their own email address to apply.

13 year-olds can serve on Gems only.

14 year-olds can add Pebbles to the above list.

15 year-olds can also serve on Rock Solid, Stepping Stones, Boulder Gang and Groundbreakers

On site, you will need to inform the first aider attached to your team of your condition. It is also your responsibility to register with the first aid centre on site, so that they are aware of your requirements. If you are on young team, your responsible adult will need to accompany you to register.
