Guildford is an area with an incredibly spiritual legacy, and we’re hungry to see God move in power again today. The New Wine Discipleship Year Hub in Guildford is based at Emmanuel Guildford, and led by Jonny Lowe. We have a whole host of placements in large and small churches, from city centre to urban estate or rural, as well as possible youth specific placements with the Diocesan Youth Catalyst team. We run alongside the CofE Ministry Experience scheme and Future Youth schemes, and there are lots of ways to be involved.
Teaching (1 day/week)
Teaching takes place on Mondays and includes theological input, leadership training, worship and prayer for each other.
Placement (4 days/week)
We believe this combination of real-life ministry, intentional supervision, and a supportive team creates the ideal environment for discipleship. Areas of involvement typically include Youth & Schools, Children’s Ministry, Students & Young Adults, Worship, Media & Tech, Outreach & Evangelism, Compassion ministries, and Hospitality. Your involvement will be agreed with your Placement Supervisor and shaped around your gifts, interests, and the needs of the church. You can apply to be placed here at Emmanuel, or with one of our many great placement churches or ministries.
Cost
Free to the student – all costs are covered by the placement churches. Students receive a weekly allowance for spending money.
Accommodation
Your placement church will help you find accommodation with a church family if you’d like that. DY students may choose to find their own housing if preferred.
