LEEDS / BRADFORD

The New Wine Training Hub is based in the city centre of Leeds but covers the whole diocese including Bradford, Wakefield, Ripon, Huddersfield and Leeds.

Teaching

We gather together every Monday, often at the St George’s Centre (part of St George’s, Leeds a large city centre Resource Church) but also at other churches around the diocese. We begin the day worshipping together and encourage our DY students to bring their gifts to lead us into God’s presence. We draw from a broad range of speakers to teach our curriculum. The teaching programme invites us to engage with the whole of the Bible, to live as those inspired and formed into the likeness of Jesus, gifted through the work of the Spirit and sent into the world as bearers of Good News to all people. We also take time to listen and reflect on what God is doing in, with and through us as we share stories, pray and study the Bible together. We also eat a lot of good food (again, our students are invited to bring their talents!).

Placements

We offer a wide variety of placements: from large city centre resource churches, suburban church plants, to multicultural inner city churches. There are opportunities to serve in a whole range of ministries including children, youth, students, the homeless, administration and operations, finance, musical worship and much, much more. We are also keen to offer rural opportunities for the right students. Talk to us if you want to find out more about what we can offer.

Once we have received your application, we will explore with you the best place for you to serve and grow your gifts and skills, whether in city centre Leeds, Bradford or elsewhere across our wide and varied Diocese.

Cost

NWDY training fees are paid for by the Diocese of Leeds.

Accommodation

As a DY student you will live either in a community house alongside other DY students or with a local host family. In each case your accommodation costs, including reasonable utility bills, are met by the Diocese.

As a DY student you will need to cover your own daily living costs. Past DY students have done this through getting a part time job, raising support from their sending church or other networks, or through their own savings. There is a bursary available to ensure finance is not a barrier to those wanting to apply for the year.

Applications

To apply please fill in the online NWDY application form and put Leeds /Bradford as your first-choice centre. We will then be in touch to discuss you application further.

Visas – we are really sorry but at this point in time we are unable to provide a certificate of sponsorship for those who do not have permission to reside in the UK.
