The New Wine Discipleship Year in Poole is based at St Mary’s Longfleet (SML), a large, lively charismatic Anglican church in the New Wine network. We are made up of people from many difference walks of life, but together we share a common vision: to be shaped by Jesus to grow disciples, build community and reach out to transform Poole, the South Coast and beyond. Poole is part of a larger urban conurbation including Bournemouth and Christchurch, providing many opportunities for serving the local community. It offers a captivating coastline, beautiful beaches, water sports, one of the world’s largest natural harbours, and beautiful countryside. The church has a large church centre, which is used for many community and conference events.
Discipleship Year Structure
Each week is broken down in to 8 hours of teaching, and 12-16 hours of serving in your chosen ministry area: Children’s, Youth, Worship, Outreach and Media
Students will be based at SML, but there may be possibilities of serving within other local churches. The rest of the time is there for you to be able to find paid employment alongside the Discipleship Year.
Throughout the year we will spend time together worshipping, praying, listening, laughing and learning. As we go through the year there will be retreat days, residential weekends and plenty of opportunity to get stuck in and serve the Church.
Cost
Course fees of £1,000 payable at the beginning of the course.
Accommodation
Interns find their own accommodation locally, although there may be possibilities of accommodation in family or shared homes. Students are encouraged to take part time employment to cover their living expenses.
