WE NEED TEAM

We can’t wait to gather for United 22 this summer and have more than 10,000 delegates booked in. We’re still really short of team and need volunteers to come forward and join the 1,000+ already signed up – can you fill one of the remaining team places this year?

The Teams most in need of more volunteers, and the numbers required, are listed here.

Additional Needs Team

Experience of working with people who have additional needs is not essential, as full training and support will be given, both before and during the event.

Hours: Dependent on the role. Inclusion teams generally work a morning and evening session, but some roles are more out of hours or shift based (for example, if supporting an individual to serve on another team).

Kids Team

We have a host of kids venues ranging from 0-4s through to 10-11s. Each venue is a great opportunity to serve and also to learn how to do great ministry and take it back to your church

Hours: Shift patterns vary between venues.

Café Team

No experience or skills necessary – just a cheery smile. Basic training will be provided.

Hours: Shift patterns vary between venues.

Catering Team

Responsible for feeding all the other team members on site – everything from preparing and cooking delicious food, greeting hungry team members, serving the food with a smile, cleaning up and looking after the Catering venue.

Hours: Daily team meeting plus lunch and dinner cover.

Medical Team

We welcome Ambulance Personnel, Doctors, First Aiders, HCAs, Nurse Practitioners and Nurses from all backgrounds to join us as we work together in a supportive multi-disciplinary team, seeking to provide 24/7 medical care

Hours: We know that doing the ‘day job’ on holiday is a big ask, so we welcome part-time as well as full-time applicants and aim to provide family-friendly shifts.

Stewarding Team

Stewards are crucial in ensuring the event runs smoothly and is a safe and secure place for everyone. The team directs and co-ordinates delegates, volunteers, contractors and suppliers around the site.

Hours: 8 hours per day (on average) on a rotating shift pattern.

Teams numbers as of 27 June 2022

TEAM STATUS FAQs

Yes. We are definitely going ahead and have over 10,000 people booked in. We can’t wait to gather again in person for the first time in 3 years – and hope to see you there.

No. That was potentially the situation at the end of May. Thanks to many of you hearing, sharing and responding to the call for Team, we now have enough to run the event safely.

There’s a key difference between meeting the threshold of local event authorities allowing us to run, compared with being able to offer all the types of provision many of us take for granted at United each summer. We have over 1,000 volunteers coming this year, but need more for this provision and to ensure those serving aren’t stretched too thinly. We love and want to honour those serving.

Thank you for volunteering! But no, we need you to complete and submit your application now as we can’t count you in our team numbers nor process the necessary references until you’ve done so.

We’re experiencing exactly the same shortage in teams and volunteers that many churches and every other Christian event has/is facing. The reasons are many, and we fully understand that it’s a reflection of the current season and that many simply can’t commit to volunteering at this time. But with only 25 paid staff, New Wine cannot happen without volunteers. We rely on New Wine churches coming together to serve one another, and we need you more than ever this year.

If you are willing to switch your delegate place to serve on team without needing a ticket refund – thank you! We will gratefully accept this offer. Please contact us at info@new-wine.org and we’ll action this for you.

However, we are not able to switch and refund delegate tickets* as we need to carefully balance the ratios of delegates to team and avoid a financial problem as a result of refunding ticket fees.

*There is an exception for accessible teams (Our Place and Access) due to the demand for higher ratios of team to delegates. Please get in touch if you are a delegate willing to serve on the Our Place or Access teams.

We’re working on a process to enable this – the Serve 2 Save New Wine initiative – which gives delegates the option of offering a day or more as a volunteer during their time on site. More info on this to come.

There are spaces available across all teams, but we are in serious need for our Kids teams (Kids Creative and 0-4s Family venue in particular) and Accessible/Inclusion (Our Place and Access) teams. We’ve had to close these groups to new delegates and operate a waiting list until we can find more volunteers.

Yes. We monitor ratios closely for our kids groups, which is why we’ve had to close groups to new delegates for now. We have families on the waiting list who would love to join us – please help us to recruit more kids team to enable this.

Our accessible teams are working hard to arrange as much small group and 1-2-1 provision as possible this year. If they foresee a problem with the level of support for anyone already booked in, they will contact you directly to discuss your options.

We cannot accommodate any new bookings requiring additional support until we recruit more team, so are currently operating a waiting list. Please email us at info@new-wine.org to join the waiting list.

There is a calling and commission on New Wine as a charity and ministry to see everyone released as a Spirit-filled disciple, through their local church. United is a central part of that ministry, gathering around a rhythm of annual festival for community, worship, celebration, power encounters with the Holy Spirit and much more.
