Centre Assistant | St Michael's Cornerstone Trust

Are you a people person with a passion for building community? We are offering an exciting new role, and are seeking to employ a Centre Assistant.

The Cornerstone Centre is a busy community centre, based on Christian values and principles, located in Oakley Cheltenham. We support people from all walks of life, the young and not so young.  We offer a wide variety of activities and services where you can learn new skills, enjoy some home-made refreshments in our coffee shop or have your laundry washed. For many, this is a safe place to meet friends and enjoy coffee and cake.

The purpose of this role is to support the Managers (job share) in promoting and facilitating the use of the services available at The Cornerstone Centre, in line with the Trust’s aims and its distinctive Christian ethos. This post has a significant part to play in the day to day running of the Centre, and in the experiences of those who are part of our community. In this role as well as assisting with the many tasks to ensure the smooth running of the Centre, the post holder will oversee the Centre whilst managers attend meetings or during a holiday period, and play a key role in encouraging and supporting our many volunteers.

A real people person role, with a passion for building community, this post supports all that it takes to enable things to run smoothly, encourage volunteers, and contribute to the atmosphere of welcome and service.

Please contact the Centre Managers, Alison Hutson / Linda Grice, for further information or if you require an application pack.

Our Vision: To see God’s Love Transforming Our Communities’ Our Mission: ‘To love and serve our Community as Jesus would’ The Centre was born out of a desire to see the Community impacted and transformed by God’s love. Our new vision statement highlights this original aim. All that we seek to do is shaped by the vision. To see God’s love, healing and hope bring change and transformation to our local Communities, for the families and individuals who make up these Communities. Our Staff and volunteers provide a welcoming environment for people of all ages, backgrounds, faiths and abilities. We offer a listening ear, provide support and encouragement when needed and seek to connect people together for further help and support. We enjoy sharing our life journey together in the daily joys and struggles that we all experience, often over a cup of freshly brewed coffee and some homemade cake.
