Ministry Apprentices for Children or Youth (w/New Wine Discipleship Year training) | The Lantern Church

The Lantern Church is a family of God on a mission, learning how to enjoy God, be family and transform Merley and beyond.

We are at the start of an exciting new season of life, God calling us into new adventures and new responsibilities as a resource church in our area. Could God be calling you to join us as a ministry apprentice?

We believe apprenticing Jesus involves being with him, becoming like him and practising doing the things he did. We want to provide an opportunity for those between the age of 18-30 to take a year out to develop foundations for life in these areas, playing a part in your growth as a disciple of Jesus and a leader in God’s church.

We are more interested in you than what you can do for us. But of course, there is plenty to be done in a relatively large church serving it’s community and sharing the good news of Jesus! To get the most out of the year you’ll need a servant heart, a willingness to be challenged and a heart for discipling young people.

We expect our apprentices to join in with the local New Wine Discipleship Year training, run at the excellent St Mary’s, Longfleet.

Please have a read of the linked Role Description and Person Specification for more detail.

For and initial conversation about the role and express your interest, please email vicar@thelanternchurch.org, or feel free to call: 07977139544. After that, if you’d like to explore more, we’ll send you an application form and arrange an interview.

There is no application deadline so to speak, but please get in touch as soon as you can as apprenticeships are limited and if you want your first choice of where you spend more time in ministry, get your skates on!

The Lantern Church
The Lantern Church is a Church of England church, part of the Canford Magna Team and is part of the New Wine network with links to the HTB Network of churches too. The Lantern was planted out of Canford Parish Church in 1976, during a period of significant church growth under Rev John Collins, who was the Vicar at the time. It is at the heart of the housing estate that was being built in that time and is just south of Wimborne Minster and about 20 minutes from Bournemouth and Poole... (and plenty of beaches!)
