Description of Job

Do you love working with pre- and junior school age children and their families? Can you help them to become followers of Jesus? Can you equip and motivate volunteers in the church to help you? Do you want to see people getting excited about their faith in Jesus, especially children? Then we would love you to join us and help write the next chapter in the life of our Church.

Negotiable Hours: (20 - 35 hrs.) 3-year fixed term contract with likely extension Salary: £26 - £29,000 (pro rata), depending on skills and experience, plus employer contribution pension

St Edyth’s is a friendly and welcoming ‘Word and Spirit’ Anglican Church in a suburb of North Bristol, in an exciting season of change and growth. Welcoming a new Vicar in mid-September, we are a church with big ambitions to share the good news of Jesus with our local community and a key part of that is our work with children and families.  We are looking for a new Children and Families Minister who shares our passion to make Jesus known, to lead and develop that work.

We want someone who will both nurture our current children’s groups and identify and follow up opportunities to reach children and families in the wider unchurched community. Longing to see children grow as life-long followers of Jesus, you will have a deep prayer life, love of Scripture, and live out your faith in the power of the Holy Spirit.

You will be responsible for leading our Children and Families ministries, growing, supporting, training, and celebrating a healthy team of volunteers around you. You will work with and have support from the Vicar and wider leadership to build strong links between our fringe ministries (currently a mid-week toddlers’ group, a monthly messy church, schools work and a school holiday breakfast club) and our gathered church community.
