St Paul’s and St George’s (Ps & Gs) is a vibrant Scottish Episcopal Church in the centre of Edinburgh with a congregation of around 1,000. At our heart we believe that we are called to be whole life disciples, sharing the whole of the gospel, with the whole of society, through churches of grace.

The Associate Rector role at Ps & Gs has two key purposes:

  1. You will work and collaborate closely with the Rector and Operations Director in helping to lead the church.
  2. You will take leadership responsibility for the Whole Life Discipleship strand of our strategy – through Connect groups, courses and leadership development.

Key Information

  1. There is an occupational requirement for the postholder to be a practising Christian.
  2. The role is permanent and has a mutually-reviewable probationary period of six months.
  3. You will be leading or present at all key services such as Advent, Christmas, Holy Week and Easter.
  4. The notice period is three months.
  5. The role reports to the Rector and is appraised annually.
  6. The appointment will be subject to you, if successful, obtaining a PVG Scheme Record through Disclosure Scotland. If you are invited to interview, you will receive more information about this.
  7. You must already have the right to live and work in the UK.
  8. You will be based at the offices at 10 and 12 Broughton Street on your normal working days.

Benefits

  1. The salary for this role is 105% of the Scottish Episcopal Church 2024 Stipend to reflect the seniority and demands of this role. The total amount is therefore £33,740pa.
  2. A lovely 4-bedroomed family home with a garden in Blackhall is provided (3 miles west of Ps & Gs)
  3. Utility bills are covered including gas, electricity, landline and contribution for internet and mobile phone.
  4. Allowances for removals will be provided to help you with relocation costs.
  5. You will be enrolled in the SEC pension scheme.
  6. You are entitled to 5 weeks annual leave (including 5 Sundays) plus breaks at Christmas and Easter as agreed with the Rector and 5 public holidays.
  7. You will be entitled (and encouraged) to take at least one full day off per week - currently our clergy and ministry team have Friday and Saturday off subject to ministry commitments.
  8. You are entitled to monthly prayer and study days.
  9. You are entitled to a study week each year.
  10. Every four years of continuous service, you will be eligible to take five weeks of sabbatical leave.
