All Saints’ is committed to children, youth and family ministry. We have an established children’s ministry with roughly 60-80 children on a Sunday morning each week (post pandemic) and thriving baby and toddler groups. You’ll be part of a team, working closely with the Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministry, the Youth Pastor and a team of interns.
We’re looking to employ someone who loves Jesus and loves children. They’ll be committed to growing in their relationship with Him. They will share the vision and values of All Saints Woodford Wells and the New Wine Vision and Values. They will be eager to learn, self-motivated, will have a can-do attitude and will be emotionally and spiritually resilient.
Their role will be to lead, help reimagine and develop the All Saints’ Children’s Ministry, supporting the vision of the church in enabling the local community to meet the Kingdom at All Saints’.

Direct reports: Discipleship Year Interns serving in the Children’s Ministry
Key Duties (but are not limited to)
Children’s Ministry Strategy, Vision and Leadership:
•To work with the Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministry to map out a vision and develop a strategy to help children both within our church family and from the wider community encounter Jesus, become His followers and play their part in building the Kingdom of God.
•To provide leadership as we together reimagine children’s ministry going forward, in particular developing opportunities to support discipleship in the home.
•To provide leadership and co-ordination for All Saints’ Children’s Ministry, both Sunday and midweek, for ages 0-11.
Children’s Programmes & All Age Services:
•To develop effective age-appropriate evangelism and discipleship for children 0-11 years old, shaping the programmes and activities that help us deliver it.
•To advocate for the needs of children within the church family, in particular taking a lead in the “All Age Service Team”.
Team Leadership and Schools’ Ministry:
•To recruit and develop members of the volunteer leadership team. This involves team leadership, training, support and encouragement.
•To liaise and work alongside the 11+ youthwork, uniformed organisations and especially parents, as well as with local schools and other Christian children’s work in the area.
•To take responsibility for supervising the Discipleship Year Interns undertaking their placement in the Children’s Ministry.
Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment:
•Working with the Parish Safeguarding Officer ensuring implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures.
•Ensuring safer recruitment processes are followed in relation to all recruitment and ongoing support of those volunteers working with children and young people.
Reporting and Training:
•To contribute to staff meetings, providing termly reports of the work and its impact and to participate in training opportunities such as New Wine Leadership Conference.
•To attend relevant Safeguarding and Health & Safety Training as required.
Skills & Experience
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a genuine sense of calling and commitment to Children’s Ministry ideally through experience in a current or recent ministry position. Key skills include the following:
Communication and Leadership Skills:
•Ability to communicate effectively with children, engaging them at their level.
•Ability to inspire confidence in adults. In particular, the ability to:
- develop and maintain good relationships with families, encouraging discipleship at home
- recruit, lead, encourage, train and work with volunteers, as well as the ability to manage interns and placement students
- develop and maintain good relationships and networks with local schools, pre-school and uniformed organisations
- think clearly and strategically and present practical and realistic solutions.
Good Organisational Skills:
•Ability to manage time effectively and willingness to work flexibly.
•Punctuality and reliability.
•Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities.
•Ability to create and maintain records and rotas in a timely manner.
•Ability to devise and implement creative lesson plans and teaching programmes.
•Ability to adapt and respond to the needs of the Youth Ministry as it continues to grow and evolve.
•Ability to think ahead and communicate in a timely fashion.
Technical Skills:
•Proficient use of Microsoft Office software.

•Is excited about working with children and their families, with a genuine heart to see them coming to faith in Christ, growing in the faith, and being inspired into lifelong discipleship.

Remuneration and Hours of Work
•Salary £25,000-30,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
•37.5 hours per week. Flexibility in the timing of working hours will be needed as some evening work is anticipated. NB Sundays will form part of the contracted hours.
•The successful candidate will be entitled to join the PCC’s shareholder pension scheme (non-contributory, 10% employer contribution).
•This post is subject to a six-month probationary period.
Holiday: The successful candidate will be entitled to 30 days paid holiday (in addition to the 8 public holidays) each year. The holiday year runs from January to December.
The Type of Person We Are Seeking
It is a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) for the person in this role to be a strong, mature and committed Christian, dedicated to building God’s Kingdom. They will be expected to have a strong personal faith and to be a regular and committed member of All Saints’, active in Sunday worship and midweek activities. The tradition of the church is evangelical charismatic, with service styles varying from formal to contemporary. We would only appoint someone who is in full agreement with the New Wine Vision and Values.
