This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Ps & Gs staff team and children’s ministry. We are looking to employ a part-time Children’s Ministry Assistant to work alongside the Director of Children’s Ministry to help with the implementation of the strategy for our 0-11 year olds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Practical delivery of Children's Ministry - assisting with the running of our Sunday groups and Babies and Toddlers group.
  • Volunteer recruitment and organising - scheduling teams, recruiting and inspiring volunteers, ensuring teams have key information to run sessions effectively.
  • Resourcing and administration - planning sessions and organising resources, ensuring health and safety policies are followed, assist with budget oversight.
  • Baby Bank support - liaise with clients and health professionals, order resources and creating packs for expectant mothers.

Key Information and benefits

  • The salary for this role is £24,000 (pro rata £14,400)
  • You will be enrolled in a direct contribution pension scheme (usually NEST however other arrangements can be negotiated).
  • You will be entitled to five working weeks holiday per year, plus five designated public holidays, plus five public holiday days allocated pro rata. Based on this role being 21 hours (3 days) per week, you would be entitled to 23 days per year (15 + 5 + 3).
  • As part of the leave allowance shown above you can take up to five Sundays off per year.
  • You are entitled to six prayer and study days per year.
  • There is an occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a practising Christian.
  • The start date is August 2024.
  • The role is fixed-term for one year with scope for it to become permanent.
  • There is a mutually-reviewable probationary period of three months.
  • The notice period is one month.
  • The role is 21 hours per week. Some working hours are flexible but will have to include Sunday mornings and Thursdays.
  • The role reports to the Director of Children’s Ministry.
  • The appointment will be subject to you, if successful, obtaining a PVG Scheme Record through Disclosure Scotland. If you are invited to interview, you will receive more information about this.
  • You must already have the right to live and work in the UK.
  • You will be based at the offices and buildings at Broughton Street and York Place on your normal working days.
