We are looking for a passionate and committed individual to join Greyfriars Reading to lead and develop our student work.
Salary: £27,600 pro rata (dependent on experience)
Hours: 2 days per week / 15 hours (to include Sunday evenings and Tuesdays)
SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Developing, maintaining and delivering an ongoing vision for student discipleship, mission and leadership
· Helping formulate appropriate termly and annual objectives
· Creating a timetable/programme for the year
· Developing and overseeing a student team
· Helping the wider church engage with students and students with the church family
· Managing the student budget
Developing discipleship, mission and leadership with and through students:
Student discipleship:
• Encourage healthy patterns and rhythms of discipleship by teaching, pastoral contact, fellowship and community
• Mentor and oversee mentors for individual students
• Oversee and develop pathways for student discipleship
• Oversee a small group for students
Student mission:
• Encourage and support innovative mission amongst students
• Create spaces for non-Christians to connect with church and the good news
• Help the church welcome and integrate non- and new-Christian students
• Willingness to engage with and support the CU on campus, especially around Freshers and Mission week
Student leadership:
• Identify student leaders (both in church and in wider contexts, e.g. Sports Society reps / Students’ Union reps)
• Develop pathways for student leadership development and training
• Facilitate student engagement in wider church leadership, including Student Takeover Services
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential:
· Highly relational
· Good written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to prioritise tasks and manage own time effectively
· Commitment to personal and spiritual development
· Highly motivated self-starter
· Team player
· Has a university degree
· Experience in student or youth ministry
· Evident commitment to and involvement in local church
· Confident at independent / solo working
Desirable:
· Current involvement in church student ministry
· Speaking experience (preaching or other)
· Good at independent/solo working
· Communcations experience using a range of social media
· Safeguarding awareness or experience
