Description of Job
Flackwell Heath is a single church parish that enthusiastically serves our large village on the edge of High Wycombe, just off the M40 motorway between London and Oxford. We are a growing church and have a reputation for being very warm and welcoming. We are looking forward to working in new and exciting ways with the person God is preparing as our new Vicar.
Our vision is 'A welcoming community where everyone flourishes in life and grows in faith, equipped to show and share the goodness of God to all’.
We have developed strong outreach activities into the community but these now need to be deepened to draw people more fully into church life: Growing Deeper | Growing Bigger | Growing Up.
We seek a vicar who will lead us in these areas.
They will be committed to discipleship and be dependent on the Holy Spirit. This should be evident in the way they lead their public, professional and personal life. We are looking for a well-rounded teacher and preacher who references both Old and New Testaments. We are an open evangelical church and have some members whose needs are met by a traditional (Common Worship), shorter Eucharistic service and others who prefer a contemporary more informal service. By having two distinctly different morning services our congregations have grown over the past 40 years, buoyed by a strong sense of unity developed over time.
Encourage our congregations to flourish and grow
Enable and communicate a clear, effective strategic plan to take the vision forward
Be a collaborative team-builder and manager, capable of delegating to others, whilst encouraging and affirming our existing leadership team
Be a person who challenges us with new ideas, and who empowers and inspires us in our giftings
Make Jesus Christ relevant to the wider community of Flackwell Heath
Be open to work with other local churches
Passionate about prayer and worship
A person who gives a warm welcome to all, with a desire to take time to get to know the congregation
Someone with a heart and vision for reaching young people and families
Honest and open when things go wrong
