Description of Job
The Church manager will be responsible for the day to day running of the church office, administration and church building as well as providing administrative support to the vicar. This new role will, we pray, advance the kingdom of God in our parish as it enables St John’s church to be better run and better equipped for both discipleship and outreach ministries and also more effective in engaging with enquiries. There will initially be a requirement to put new processes in place, such as new management software. As this is a new role, there is the opportunity to be creative in how these processes are set up. There is an occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a Christian.

Key areas of responsibility include:
• Providing administrative support for the Vicar
• Acting as the first point of contact for the parish in administrative matters and Occasional Offices
• Managing all advertising (print and online, including the website and social media) and service papers
• Maintaining diaries and church directory
• Managing the church facilities
• Supporting the Vicar and ministry team with projects and events

Key skills include:
• Excellent administrative and organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team
• Competence in use of IT, including software, websites and Facebook
• Very good attention to detail
