Job Description

Job Title: Associate Pastor

Responsible to: Senior pastor & leadership team

Terms: Full time. £29,000 PA plus housing. Pension. 25 days holiday.

Location: Cirencester Baptist Church, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, GL7 1YE

Role Specification:
We are looking for an experienced pastor with proven leadership ability to join the staff team and work alongside our senior pastor in all aspects of church life but with a particular responsibility for the roles below:

• To have oversight and responsibility for the provision of pastoral care for the church family and, where appropriate, within the local community

• To develop and grow the church’s discipleship programme both for those exploring faith or who may have recently come to faith, and for those who have known and followed Jesus for many years.

• Able to competently and confidently lead and speak at Sunday services and other church wide events and activities

• To build strong relationships with people of all ages within the church and wider community, and to identify and develop links with other groups outside of the church

• To supervise & encourage staff members and volunteers across the life of the church




Person Specification:

• A committed & prayerful follower of Jesus and to be actively seeking God’s kingdom and calling in their life

• Having an evangelistic heart for all people, and a desire and willingness to share Jesus with those that don’t know him

• Able to encourage people to grow in their relationship with God through discipleship, mentoring and exploring their God given gifts

• Able to offer experienced pastoral care to individuals and families

• Able to relate to and connect with people of all ages who have a faith, and with those who don’t, and an ability to build consistent, sustainable and long-lasting relationships

• Seeking to grow in the gifts of the Spirit and to demonstrate a willingness to allow God to work in you and through you

• Having a good understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures and an ability to adhere to those procedures in all aspects of the role

• Resilient and enthusiastic, with attention to detail

• Working well within a team and servant hearted

• Self-motivated & able to work independently as well as part of a team

• Maintaining a high degree of confidentiality and discretion

• Having a good sense of humour and an ability to laugh at themselves
