St John the Baptist Church, Spalding

We are a growing church family spanning a range of worship traditions from traditional and eucharistic to the contemporary and charismatic evangelical.

In February 2021 St John’s became part of the national program of church growth and revitalisation with support from St. George’s, Stamford (a resource church in the diocese of Lincoln) and financial input from the Strategic Development Fund.

This saw the arrival of our new vicar who has the remit to develop and revitalise the church whilst maintaining the existing traditional aspects.

This exciting chapter in the life of St John’s has enabled us to launch a number of new outreach and ministry initiatives. Through the launch of a monthly contemporary All-Age service, Children’s church, toddler groups and work with St John’s Primary School we have seen the arrival of some families and the number of children has grown from 0 to about 12. We run several courses, Alpha, Bible Course, CAP Life Skills, and seen that start of a home group and a Bible study group.

We have also been given funds to employ a Church Manager and a Children and Families worker.

A new curate arrived in July 2023 and in autumn 2023 we are planning to start a weekly contemporary service, alongside our current mainly traditional service.

We are in the process of updating our website.
