Description of Job

We would accept part time applications for this position in addition to full-time and job-share.

Two thirds of the funding for this post comes from John Lyon's Charity, who cannot fund the promotion of religion, and so support the secular elements of the Church's programme of activities. The post will include various elements including:

John Lyon's Charity Funded:

Leading and developing the outreach youth work of St Alban's by maintaining existing projects or pioneering new ones.

Leading trips and or residentials to build relationships and confidence.

We would also expect the leader to:

·      Line manage our paid part-time Youth Support Worker

·      Lead our team of volunteers and safely recruit new members to the team.

·      Be involved in the mentoring of young people

Church Funded work:

Help plant and lead a new congregation on Sunday evenings suitable for youth and young adults

Communicate the gospel in sensitive, relevant and innovative ways to young people inside and outside the church – preferably using Alpha for youth as a tool.

Lead an annual faith-based youth residential e.g. Lee Abbey Youth Camp, Scripture Union or Falcon Youth Camp.

Depending on skills and motivation possibly in addition either:

Develop our Student Ministry

OR:

Develop our work with young children

St Albans Church

Harrow

St Albans is a multi-ethnic suburban parish from the central church tradition with an inclusive, sacramental emphasis. We have around 20 children and young people who worship regularly with us outside of our intermittent Messy Church, and our after school clubs attract around 10-15 young people each time.
