Children & Families Worker
The Church of the Good Shepherd is a lively, charismatic, evangelical church with a heart for mission in Collier Row and beyond.
We have an exciting opportunity for a children and families worker to join our team.
- Salary: £24,000-£29,000 (FTE) based on 37 hours per week. Starting salary will depend on qualifications and experience.
- Hours: 20 hours per week. This role will require working flexible hours/days across the week and will include Sunday mornings, Fridays between 9am and 3pm (term time), Wednesday morning prayer and staff meetings.
- Holiday: 100 hours per annum (effectively 5 weeks) plus bank holidays in the holiday year.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversight of discipleship of the under 11s in the Church family.
- Pioneering outreach through the under 11s at CoGS and primary schools in the Parish of CoGS.
- Recruit, lead, encourage and grow a team of volunteers to support the Children and Families Ministry, including:
- Being conversant with the Diocesan safeguarding policies, ensuring they are adhered to at all times.
- Co-ordinating opportunities for training, understanding and implementing best practice in children and family ministry and model good practice to others.
- Ensuring all volunteers are recruited in line with the Diocesan Safer Recruitment policy.
The successful candidate should:
- Have good knowledge and experience of working with children and an understanding of children’s culture.
- Have a proven ability to build, lead and work with a team.
- Have a proven ability to work on own initiative.
- Be able to identify new opportunities / projects to connect with children and families within the church and the wider community.
This post is subject to an occupational requirement that the holder be a practising Christian under Part 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010. A satisfactory DBS check is required due to the nature of the job.
