We are seeking a Worship Director who is passionate about seeing people worship and meet with Jesus in song across musical traditions. At St Mary's we take a 'both/and' approach to sung worship incorporating the best of traditional hymns and contemporary worship songs in our services led weekly by a blend of choir, worship leader and band, and organ. This is a new expanded role to enable us to continue to grow both elements under the direction of one person.

As part of our growing staff team, the role involves planning and weekly rehearsing and leading music for our Sunday services and Christian festivals (Christmas, Easter, Harvest, Candlemas) and the associated admin. Developing and growing our band and choir and helping us find creative ways to hold together the blend of old and new music.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about growing as a disciple of Jesus and loves leading other in sung worship, and has a genuine love for contemporary and traditonal church music. A confident singer who has experience leading sung worship with a band and can play piano/keyboard/organ or guitar to a good standard. Someone who will be an active member of our church family and committed to our vision and mission.

Other information

The job is part time (14 hours per week) to be worked flexibly including evenings and Sunday mornings and all key Christian Festivals (Christmas, Easter, Pentecost). Holiday allowance of FTE 6 weeks inc max 6 Sundays.

All postholders are expected to share St Mary's commitment to safeguarding. You will need to attend all relevant safeguarding training and work according to our safeguarding policy.

There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) that the post-holder is a practising Christian. Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 applies.

Salary Range

£30,225- £33,150 (Full Time Equivalent)
