The New Wine Discipleship Year in Leamington Spa runs out of St Paul’s Church, a large evangelical church near the town centre, home to a wide range of ages and backgrounds. We have recently become a Coventry Diocese Mission Hub, resourcing mission in churches across Leamington and beyond. Leamington Spa was recently voted one of the best places to live in the UK, and is full of opportunities to get involved in Christian ministry.
Our teaching has three focuses through the year – Foundational Discipleship in the Autumn term, the Kingdom of God & Mission in the Spring term, and Calling & Leadership in the Summer term.
Our teaching programme is run in partnership with St Mark’s Academy in Coventry. Half the teaching time each week is run by the Discipleship Year Hub at St Paul’s Leamington Spa, and the other half is spent at St Mark’s Academy, run out of St Mark’s Church in Coventry which trains students and interns from across Coventry Diocese.
As part of being a Discipleship Year student you will have a ministry placement, with a supervisor either at your placement church or at St Paul’s Leamington Spa. At St Paul’s there is scope to get involved in a whole range of our thriving ministries. The number of hours you spend each week in your placement can vary based on your availability.
St Paul’s has excellent links with mission organisations for short-term mission placements as part of the Discipleship Year.
Training fees are covered by St Paul’s Leamington Spa for those doing their ministry placements at St Paul’s.
For other students there is a course fee of £1,000, payable at the beginning of the course.
Students doing their ministry placements at St Paul’s Leamington Spa have the option of living in one of the church houses with rent and bills covered by the church.
For other students we cannot guarantee that we can provide accommodation in one of the church houses.
