Description of Job

To support our ongoing work, we are looking to appoint a capable and enthusiastic team member to support the provision of our children’s ministry. Emmanuel has a large and growing number of children with four separate age groups in our Sunday provision. The children’s ministry has developed beyond Sundays to include a number of family events including Light Parties, Christmas and Easter events and a summer holiday club.

We are looking for an individual who has a passion to see children engaging with the gospel and growing in their lives of discipleship, who can help us to continue to improve the quality of our children’s work. Our aim is for all our children to attend well planned provision led by well trained volunteers; for all those involved in children’s ministry to share this heart for children and find creative ways for our children to interact with the gospel and experience its challenge, comfort and joy for themselves. It is also our desire for children to build strong friendships with each other and benefit from integration into the wider church family.

 Key responsibilities

  • Leadership of the children’s work teams and ministry.
  • Recruitment and induction of new children’s work team members.
  • Ownership and development of children’s work curriculum.
  • Planning and preparation of children’s work resources.
  • Working in partnership with the Families Lead to plan and run events for families.
  • Potential to support the running of the Jellytots toddler group.
  • Ensuring Safeguarding procedures are implemented across children’s work ministry.

The ideal candidate would have experience working with children (0-12 years old), developing curriculum and planning and delivering engaging teaching materials. They would be able to lead and inspire others; and to take initiative in creating new opportunities within the wider community on Emmanuel’s behalf. For the right candidate there would be the opportunity to engage in wider training opportunities within our Catalyst family of churches.
