Accessible Church Team

Accessible Church Team

DBS required

We strive to ensure that New Wine is an event that welcomes, enables, and recognises the value of everyone and the unique gifts they bring to God’s kingdom. We aim to remove any barriers which may prevent people from playing as full a part in the event as they are able. The New Wine Accessible Church Ministry provides several teams which serve and support people with *additional needs and their families at New Wine. We would love you to join us as we build this essential ministry.

*The term ‘additional needs’ includes physical and sensory disabilities, learning and cognitive needs, neurodivergence, mental health, trauma-related needs, illness and other undiagnosed needs.

The sub-teams of the Accessible Church Team are:

  • Inclusion support (Kids venues)
  • Inclusion support (Luminosity)
  • Inclusion support (Adult Main worship venues and support for team members)
  • Our Place Kids (Kids Specialist Venue)
  • Our Place Youth (Youth Venues)
  • Access (Adult specialist Venue)
  • Breathe (Supporting parents and carers of those with additional needs)

Click below for more information on each of these sub-teams.

Experience of working with people who have additional needs is not essential, as full training and support will be given both before and during the event.

Age

  • 18+ for all inclusion teams
  • 21+ for the Breathe team

You will need:

  • To attend online training sessions before the event.
  • Be able to work under the guidance of the team leaders and inclusion coordinators.
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude to enabling those with additional needs to participate in the programme as fully as possible and to feel fully included as part of the family of God.
  • Good emotional resilience and able to keep calm if challenging situations arise.
  • To maintain confidentiality for any personal information you may be given about an individual or individuals you may be supporting.
  • To attend a debrief meeting with your Inclusion Coordinator at the end of each session.
  • For those applying to serve on the Kids and Luminosity specialist venue teams or kids/Luminosity inclusion support teams, prior experience of working with children or young people, such as serving on a kids/youth team at your church, is preferred. *

*Serving on the kids and youth teams can be physically demanding and require a lot of moving around and sitting on the floor. If this may prove difficult for you, please contact info@new-wine.org to discuss how we might best support your needs.

Hours

Team hours are varied. Inclusion teams typically work morning and evening shifts, although some positions require off-hours or shift work, such as supporting an individual on another team.

New Wine wouldn’t exist without our army of volunteers – there are thousands! We know how important you are to the New Wine family and want to make sure you are valued.

Each Team member pays a non-refundable £30 fee. This is to contribute to the significant costs of administering all the necessary management and administration, which New Wine meets the majority of centrally as an organisation. You will also need to provide your own accommodation (either on or off-site).

Completing your application form…

  1. Make sure you follow the correct link to apply for your chosen Team (e.g., Young Team 13-17 years have a separate application form to adult team)
  2. You’ll need a digital photo of yourself for your Team badge: full colour, clearly visible headshot image no larger than 2MB
  3. You’ll need contact details (name and email address) for 2 referees

Referees

Volunteers come into contact with many people and are in varying positions of responsibility. It is for this reason that we ask each applicant to provide two referees.
