The New Wine team serves in many ways before, during and after the event with the main aim of facilitating the church to Gather together, encounter the holy spirit, and be renewed and sent out. Team Arrival Day

All team will need to arrive the day before the event starts. For New Wine 2024, this is Wednesday, 24th July.

If you are a young team member travelling with family, or sharing a lift, they will also be allowed on-site with you; however, please note that no venues will be open, and catering will only be provided to team members

 

THE TEAMS

Accessible Church Team

(Access, Breathe, Our Place)

About:- We strive to ensure that New Wine is an event that welcomes, enables, and recognises the value of everyone and the unique gifts they bring to God’s kingdom. We aim to remove any barriers which may prevent people from playing as full a part in the event as they are able. The New Wine Accessible Church Ministry provides several teams which serve and support people with *additional needs and their families at New Wine. We would love you to join us as we build this essential ministry.

*The term ‘additional needs’ includes physical and sensory disabilities, learning and cognitive needs, neurodivergence, mental health, trauma-related needs, illness and other undiagnosed needs.

Experience of working with people who have additional needs is not essential, as full training and support will be given both before and during the event.

Age: 18+ for all inclusion teams, 21+ for the Breathe team

You will need:

  • To attend online training sessions before the event.
  • Be able to work under the guidance of the team leaders and inclusion coordinators.
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude to enabling those with additional needs to participate in the programme as fully as possible and to feel fully included as part of the family of God.
  • Good emotional resilience and able to keep calm if challenging situations arise.
  • To maintain confidentiality for any personal information you may be given about an individual or individuals you may be supporting.
  • To attend a debrief meeting with your Inclusion Coordinator at the end of each session.
  • For those applying to serve on the Kids and Luminosity specialist venue teams or kids/Luminosity inclusion support teams, prior experience of working with children or young people, such as serving on a kids/youth team at your church, is preferred. *

*Serving on the kids and youth teams can be physically demanding and require a lot of moving around and sitting on the floor. If this may prove difficult for you, please contact info@new-wine.org to discuss how we might best support your needs.

Hours: Team hours are varied. Inclusion teams typically work morning and evening shifts, although some positions require off-hours or shift work, such as supporting an individual on another team.

Admin

About: Do you enjoy administration? The admin team support other teams on site with all things administration, such as photocopying, laminating and printing. If you have an eye for detail, we would love to hear from you.

Age: 18+

Hours: Hours may vary depending on the needs of the event. Typically, it would be between 4-6 hours per day.

Arts

About:- Arts is a space for adults to create, learn and worship through art. There are a range of workshops throughout the week from Bible journaling to printmaking. We also offer an art drop in space for those who want to do their own thing.!

If you have experience of running arts workshops or creative spaces, or perhaps you just love art, we would love to have you on this team!

Age: 18+

Hours: Serving on a rota between 5-6 hours per day.

Café

About: If you like to serve in a practical way, why not join one of our fun, friendly and dedicated Café teams? You’ll be with the same team throughout the event and serve on a rota, so you can also enjoy lots of the main programme.

There are multiple cafes, and typically these are sponsored by charities. These charities, and the café locations will be established closer to the event, however when applying you are welcome to state your café preference, but please note your preference is not guaranteed.

We would LOVE to hear from you if you have Barista experience. However, this is not essential, as some training will be provided.

The role

  • Serving customers
  • Preparing hot drinks
  • Cleaning café areas
  • Monitoring stock
  • Working within food safety standards
  • Handling cash

Age: 16+

Hours
Shift patterns vary between cafes, so this will be confirmed by the café manager. As a team member, everyone is expected to help with setting up and packing up the café at the start and end of the event.

Event Support

About: Be part of one of the most hands-on teams on site! As part of the Event Support team, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring that the site’s infrastructure operates efficiently and without any glitches. This role entails general maintenance skills, with plumbing and electrical abilities being an added advantage. Your expertise in fixing a blocked shower will be highly appreciated!

Age: 18+

Hours: The event support team works 8:30 am-6 pm each day, and usually on 6-hour shifts.

Finance

DBS required

About: Do you have an eye for detail? Are you good with numbers or have an interest in financial administration? Our finance team would love to hear from you! The finance team are a friendly bunch and there is always plenty to do.  This role involves supporting the team in managing and recording the cash floats and takings from the cafés and the main collection, and general finance administration, or helping admit day visitors at the gate.

Age: 18+

Hours:  4-6 hours a day dependent on role; the day gate starts early but has breaks during the day, with the main finance office operations being more “office hours”.

About: How would you like to join the staff team to be the face of New Wine to thousands of people throughout the event? We’re looking for friendly, energetic team members who can:

  • Provide a warm welcome to delegates as they arrive on site.
  • Be polite under pressure and good at on-the-spot problem-solving.
  • Answer a wide variety of queries about the site and the event’s programme.
  • Sell programmes, lanyards, and other merchandise.

Age: 18+

Hours
5-6 hours a day

Kids- Reception- yr 6 & Kids- Preschool

DBS Required for those aged 17+ (age when onsite)

About: We’re passionate about seeing children meet with God! Check out our vision for kids’ ministry here. Where else can you spend time with some of the most enthusiastic people you’ll ever meet? Serving on Team in one of the children’s venues is a rewarding, energising, and fun way of giving back – and you’ll see God do some amazing things along the way.

In all kids’ teams, you’ll befriend, lead, and encourage the children, get alongside them in small groups, pray with and for them, minister to them in the power of the Spirit, and encourage them to pray for each other. You’ll serve as a small group leader, either on your own or paired up with another team member. Some teams also need activity leaders who organise, prepare, and supervise drama, games, or crafts and assist with the practical needs of the team while not being directly responsible for a group of children.

You will need:

  • A heart to serve.
  • Bags of energy and enthusiasm.
  • To be active and willing to help children engage with Jesus.
  • Be able to be part of a team and be ready for anything.
  • Recent experience of working with children.

Age: Young Team 13-17 years, adult team 18+

All Team will receive training pre-site and on-site, and those over 17 years will need to undergo a DBS check as part of the application process (see the main Teams page for further info).

The sub-teams of New Wine Kids are:

  • 0-4s (Pre-school)
  • 0-4s Families (Pre-school)
  • Kids 5-7s (Reception- Year 2)
  • Kids 8-9s (School years 3 and 4)
  • Kids 10-11s (School years 5 and 6)
  • Kids Creative

Luminosity

DBS Required for those aged 17+ (age when onsite)

About: Join our Youth (11-18s, School years 7-13) teams and help run an incredible event of worship, sports, seminar-style sessions, cafes and more, with quality time to share the gospel and pray for the young people in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Age: Young Team 13-17 years, adult team 18+

All Team will receive training pre-site and on-site, and those over 17 years will need to undergo a DBS check as part of the application process (see the main Teams page for further info).

The sub-teams of Luminosity are:

  • LUMINOSITY TEAM
  • You’ll be helping the LUMINOSITY core team throughout the event. That will include a bit of everything from praying for young people, ensuring they stay safe in venue and getting to know young people. You’ll be involved in the main celebrations and seminars each day.
  • Participation in games is often a highlight for the team members!
  • We are looking for anyone who has a heart for young people and to see them encounter Jesus, whether you are young or old. Come and join in!

From ages 18+

You will be required to help serve another team during the afternoons and will be asked where you would like to serve on your team application. (Choices include Sports, Afterhours or Café)

  • DETACHED
    • Whilst the majority of young people will spend most of the time in the main venues, some prefer to stay at camp, hang out with friends in the stretch tent or the snug (cafe) and enjoy the surroundings of the Luminosity site. Some great conversations are often outside of the main celebrations!
    • If you like the outdoors, enjoy meeting new young people, and are confident at striking up a conversation and making people feel at home – then this team is definitely for you!
    • From ages 18+
  • LUMINOSITY YOUTH TEAM (ages 16-17)
    • If you are aged 16-17, want to serve on team, and want to give something back to the younger generation, then come and be a part of our younger youth team. You’ll be able to have all the opportunities of praying and serving young people, participating in crowd games, and helping the youth of LUMINOSITY have a great time!
    • The youth venue is full of high-energy involvement, and we love to party!

Hours: Team hours vary, typically serving morning and evening shifts, with additional activities in the afternoons and late evenings.

Media

About: We want to find, nurture and support creatives at New Wine and with so much going on around the site every summer, we need multiple individuals to help us capture it all. With a vision to inspire others to join us and see what God is doing in the New Wine family, the media team will comprise presenters, photographers, and videographers with a mission to tell the story of New Wine through attractive, versatile, and shareable content.

Age: Young Team 13-17 years (limited spaces available), adult team 18+

You will need:

  • A heart to serve.
  • Fun loving
  • Experience in content capture
  • Your own camera and equipment (details of specific equipment requirements available on request).
  • Be able to be part of a team and be ready for anything.

Hours: The media team is scheduled to cover all elements of each day on a rota.  The schedule allows for attendance at some, but not all, main meetings and seminars.

Radio

About: New Wine FM is the on-site radio station for the summer gathering. We usually transmit live for around 16 hours a day, providing programming including interviews, Christian music and the live relay of seminars and main meetings. We need presenters and engineers to join our friendly and welcoming team. Previous experience isn’t essential – we’ll train you, and you’ll be serving with experienced team members.

Age: 18+

The sub-teams of Radio are:

  • Presenters- the “voice” of New Wine FM. We present and compile radio shows, conduct live and recorded interviews, and provide on-site information and updates for delegates.
  • Engineers- from building our radio facilities, overseeing the live links from meetings and seminars, and getting and keeping us on air!

You will need:

  • A heart to serve.
  • Be a team player.
  • Previous experience isn’t essential – we’ll train you, and you’ll be serving with experienced team members.
  • The one other commitment we ask is attendance at our Team Day, usually held towards the end of June. This day is an opportunity to meet the team, receive essential training and eat cake!

Hours: The radio team is scheduled to cover all elements of each day on a rotaThe schedule allows for attendance at some, but not all, main meetings and seminars.

Safeguarding

About: We are seeking volunteers with experience in safeguarding to join our Safeguarding team at the New Wine Summer gathering. Role descriptions are available and informal discussion with the New Wine Safeguarding Lead  for anyone interested and wanting to know more; please email info@new-wine.org.

Age: 18+

You will need:

  • A heart to serve.
  • Experience in working in a safeguarding context.

Hours: The safeguarding team is scheduled to cover all elements of each day and night (on call) on a rotaThe schedule allows for attendance at some, but not all, main meetings, and seminars.

Stewarding

DBS required

 About: Our Stewards are crucial in ensuring the event runs smoothly and is a safe and secure place for everyone. The team directs and coordinates delegates, volunteers, contractors and suppliers around the site, so we are looking for people who are confident, reliable, decisive, calm under pressure and able to do all this with a smile!

The sub-teams of Stewarding are:

  • Stewarding – General (Day) Team

    • About: This team covers most of the site (including some seminar venues) and involves ensuring safety and assisting in any way to help things run smoothly. Stewards need to be polite, friendly and outgoing, good at communicating clearly, calm under pressure and able to be assertive if necessary.
    • Age: 17+
    • Hours: You will be allocated to a team of Stewards; each team rotates across various shift times, covering a range of different duties. This system gives everyone variety, as well as ensuring that duties are fairly distributed. You will find out your shift team and times before the event starts. Each shift is around 8 hours, with breaks.
    • You will need:
      • A heart to serve.
      • Be a team player.
      • Previous experience isn’t essential – we’ll train you, and you’ll be serving with experienced team members.
      • You will spend much of your time standing/walking outside, so warm clothing, waterproofs, sturdy footwear, and stamina are essential!

A day in the life of a Steward  

  • Site Services

    • About: Site Services forms the central hub of communication for everything that happens on site, supporting delegates with any site issues and coordinating the functions of contractors and all other teams on site, ensuring the smooth running of the event. Unlike other stewarding teams, this team is based indoors.
    • Age: 18+
    • Hours: Approximately 8 hours per day on a rotating shift pattern between 8am and midnight; shift patterns will be available to team members before the event.
    • You will need:
      • A heart to serve.
      • Be a team player.
      • Previous experience isn’t essential – we’ll train you, and you’ll be serving with experienced team members.
      • Be empathetic, smiley, and full of Grace.
      • Have clear and calm communication skills.
      • Be good at keeping records.

               A day in the life of the site services team

  • Stewarding- Night Team

    • About: This section of our team ensures the safety of the site, venues and delegates throughout the night. You will spend most of your time outside walking the site; duties include overseeing the ‘Silent Hours’ (curfew). During the night, you will communicate regularly with Team members in Site Services, who will complete a Night Log. All under the watchful eyes of the Night Steward team leader.
    • Age: 18+
    • Hours: Midnight till 8am.
    • You will need:
  • A heart to serve.
  • Be a team player.
  • Experience serving as a ‘General Steward’ or ‘Night Steward’ previously is desirable.
  • Be empathetic, smiley, and full of Grace.
  • You will spend much of your time standing/walking outside, so warm clothing, waterproofs, sturdy footwear, and stamina are essential!

  A day in the life of a night steward

Teams Village

About: Previously known as the ‘Teams Lounge’ this team’s main aim is to make our army of volunteers feel valued. This year, ‘Teams Lounge’ is back but bigger and better… TEAMS VILLAGE.  – More info to follow.

About the role:

  • Welcoming people into the venue at the start of sessions.
  • Serving drinks and snacks
  • Helping team with any specific needs
  • Chatting to team, being a listening ear.
  • Tidying and cleaning the venue.
  • Being willing to carry out other tasks as required by the team leader.

Age: 18+

Hours: The Teams Village team is scheduled to cover all-day opening. The schedule allows for attendance at some, but not all, main meetings and seminars.

Venue Camera Operator

 About: Join the team that brings the action in the adult venues to the screens. The Venue Visuals team’s key areas of responsibility are to use the cameras in the venues to follow cues and capture the stage content under the supervision of the visuals team leader.

Age: 18+

 You will need:

  • A heart to serve.
  • Experience serving in a church visuals or production team is desirable.
  • Previous experience isn’t essential – we’ll train you, and you’ll be serving with experienced team members. However, the ability to be technologically minded is essential.

Hours: The Venue Camera Operator team is scheduled to cover all elements of the program across several venues on a rota.

Venue Team

About: Our larger venues need friendly, helpful, and energetic volunteers to host and welcome people during the main celebrations and the various seminars throughout the day. Running a large venue has lots of hidden jobs, so volunteers will also be required to do various housekeeping tasks during the event to keep the place spick and span! 

Age: 18+

About the role:

  • Welcoming people into the venue at the start of sessions.
  • Ensuring all aisles and gangways are kept suitably clear.
  • Ensuring that people enter and exit the venue safely.
  • Helping delegates with specific accessibility needs.
  • Ensuring that all those entering are carrying a valid event pass.
  • Tidying and cleaning the venue.
  • Being willing to carry out other tasks as required by the team leader.

Hours: You will mainly be serving during the morning and evening meetings, with additional time for venue set up and team time.

Village Host

About: Villages provide a ‘home’ for people throughout their time at New Wine. As a Village Host, you will welcome people to their camping village, give delegates an idea of what’s on and when, be available to answer questions about the site or programme and, if you’re able to, organise village activities such as a BBQ, so people can get to know each other. Village Hosts also help to plan the camping layout of the village before the event starts and address practical camping needs throughout the event.  All you need is a love for people and an endless supply of tea bags!

Age: 18+

You will need:

  • To be loving, friendly and welcoming. -to go the extra mile and bless others to make everyone on the village feel they belong
  • Able to make a good cup of tea or coffee.
  • Excellent choice in biscuits.
  • Planning skills and vision to plan your village.
    • The ability to be flexible at the last minute.
  • Basic camping experience and a willingness to help others.
  • Enthusiasm for group activities such as BBQs

Hours: Village hosts often arrive on site the day before the event starts to give time to be set up, ready and welcoming for delegates the following morning.  On delegate arrivals day, the Village Host must be present in their village all day. During the week, the hours are flexible and varied depending on the needs of your village and any social events you might plan.

Young Adult Collective

About: The Young Adult Collective team facilitate the delivery of the Young Adults (YA) stream at New Wine.

About the role:

  • Welcoming people into the venue at the start of sessions.
  • Ensuring that people enter and exit the venue safely.
  • Helping delegates with specific accessibility needs.
  • Ensuring that all those entering are carrying a valid event pass.
  • Tidying and cleaning the venue.
  • Being willing to carry out other tasks as required by the team leader.

Age: 18+

Hours: The YA team serve in the afternoons. The schedule allows for attendance at some, but not all, main meetings, and seminars.

Referees

Volunteers come into contact with many people and are in varying positions of responsibility. It is for this reason that we ask each applicant to provide two referees.
